...where? This morning my van would not go into gear. After five minutes of idling, I was able to take off. There is no noise. Several months ago my transmission slipped while leaving home. I took van to shop and found transmission fluid was two bottles low! There is never any transmission oil on the ground. The mechanic told me that he had heard of transmission fluid leaking into the coolant system! I took no action at that time.

Is there anyone that has heard of my dilemma?

As for the smoking, my regular mechanic is suggesting that I eventually replace the engine with a remanufactured engine as opposed to a rebuilt one for warranty purchases, etc. Apparently the valve guides are the trouble. My guy says it would be throwing good money after bad if just doing the valve guides.

Thanks for your input!

Burning oil is usually from worn out piston rings. the transmission leak could be from a leaky pan gasket, change the fluid and filter and the kit usually comes with a new pan gasket, if the pan gasket was leaking the new gasket will fix that issue.
