My front differential is making a high pitched whirring sound. The faster I go, the louder it gets. I've only had this Jeep about 4 months, but in those 4 months, I've also had front end shaking 3 or 4 times (usually when braking quickly from high speeds, but it's also happened when I was just driving 45). I don't know if the shaking has anything to do with the differential...a mechanic told me they'd have to open it up and disassemble it to find the problem, but that it is most likely either the gears failing or something is wrong with a bearing. Does anyone have any info on this kind of thing? I don't have the money to have it opened up and looked at yet, but need to make a 1000 mile trip soon, and want to know if it will even make it that far.
