Hi guys,

I just got this car a few weeks ago. It's a 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 speed. This problem has only happened twice so far but I want to fix whatever is wrong before it becomes a big problem! When I go to start the car it sounds like it is going to catch but it doesn't. Both times I stop turning the key, wait a second and try it again and it starts right away. All of the power is working when this happens. Other times when I start the car it will start right away. Any ideas what can be causing this? Thanks in advance for the help!

A fuel pressure problem due to a leaking cylinder fuel injector or fuel pump problem. Have a shop technician hook up a fuel pressure gauge to your fuel injection fuel rail to measure the pump pressure and how fast it bleeds off when you park the car. Try slowly cycling the key from 5 seconds on (not start) to 5 seconds off three times before actually turning the key to start the car. This forces the fuel pump to run and pressurize the fuel rail.
