So I'm thinking about buying a 1997 F150 from a friend of mine. The vehicle has ~200000 miles on it, and he has all the maintenance receipts. From the sounds of it the truck has been well maintained.
I'm obviously going to go check it out and make sure everything is as he says it is (can never be too careful), but here's my main question:
I'm planning on making a long haul trip (Dallas, TX to Spokane, WA ~2000 miles one way), and I want to improve the odds of this truck making it out there and back without too many hiccups, or any hiccups at all. Any suggestions on what to look at when I'm getting the truck checked out by my mechanic, or any particular parts I should consider replacing before I go?
