you may have a loose power wire that has been severed. if the bare wire touches the frame or a ground then it will mess with the gauges and all other electronics. it will also shut the car off. you may want to check battery wires or any wires that carry power, included sound system and CD player. alternator could be getting bad or just the battery. you can take your battery to O'reallys and they will test it for free.
