1997 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L overheating and boiling coolant?

Well, i have a 1997 Chevy Cavalier base coupe, 3 speed auto, with the 2.2L engine. For some reason, it really likes to run super hot. It gets so hot that it boils the coolant. I can hear the sound off boiling once i take the coolant reservoir cap off. And then i guess its getting so hot and so much pressure is building that the pressure gets relieved from what i believe is the weakest point, the reservoir cap, as there is always coolant around the cap on the outside. I believe something's blocking the one of the lines or something, not causing the coolant to flow freely. Where's a good place to start? Get a new thermostat? Or should i get the radiator flushed? Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks a bunch.
