The car overheats and the check engine light comes on and off. I heard that since the light does not stay on it should not be anything too serious...is this true? Also a diagnostic test was ran on the car and said that it has a bad 02 sensor, could this cause the car to overheat? I do not own the car but am looking into buying it and from what the people say it is nothing to serious but none of us are mechanics. I have been researching this today and read that it could be a blown head gasket. What are some things to look for if it is a blown head gasket? Also what else could it be and is there anything else that I need to look for or ask about the car that could imply something serious. I do know someone who could fix the car whatever the problem but of course I have to pay them and I'm not going to get it if it will cost a fortune. Also the car has 143,000 miles on it just incase that matters. Thank you for all of your answers.
Also from what they say is the temperature gage says that it is hot but if you pull over and wait it will go back down.
BTW: The only reason I am considering getting it is because it's only $1000 and if its nothing to serious that it's a good deal
Oh they said they have the paper work and everything passed on the smog except the check engine light, which they say is the 02 sensor.
