I was driving and my engine sputtered a bit. It didn't die all the way, so I started to slow down and then it totally cut out (power steeing as well).
When I turn the key, it only "clicks". All of my dash lights/headlights work, but when I turn they key they all go very dim if not totally out.
I took in my battery to Auto Zone to get tested and they said the battery was still good. Put the battery BACK in hoping that I had "reset" something, but still the same thing.
I have banged around on the starter a bit, and the clicking noise changed to always a whining sound. At one point after banging on it, it seemed like it almost was going to start the engine, but didn't quite get there. It's also blistering hot to the touch (literally, I have a blister).
Any advice you give would be more than I'm getting.
