I'm looking to buy a car. I don't have lots of money, and I would prefer not to finance because of my tight situation. I just got done test driving a '96' Toyota Avalon, with 201,908 miles. The interior was nice, despite a few cosmetic defects. The moon roof and rear-view is cracked, and would need replacing (at least the rear-view) and the breaks make a funny noise when breaking in revearse, along with an unusual squealing coming from the antena. I really need a reliable car so that I can get myself to work and to gigs so that eventually, I can position myself to afford a newer vehicle. I could buy a car like this and try to get another 40,000 miles out of it (few years) or go for something newer, which I would definitely have to finance and STILL work like a dog to pay off. Any suggestions?
I'd like to add that it has new tires and has a new paint job and no rust. The retail price is 3900.
