I'm looking for a car and came across a 1996 honda prelude si with 113k miles. When I turn the engine on, you here this very slight, very quick knocking sound (sounds EXACTLY like a diesel). Is this a rod knock? You can't really hear it when you're driving. I have no idea for I am no mechanic, but the guy is giving me a good deal if I follow though.
Obviously I don't expect someone to tell me exactly whats going on, but can someone give me possible explanations for this noise, as well as what I should inspect/check/ look for? All advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Btw, the abs light is on, and he's been driving around with it for over a year. Does that have anything to do with it?
Also this car is NOT the vtec, its the si H23
