I plan on taking a trip from Pittsburgh, PA to Las Vegas, NV and am driving a 1996 Honda Civic with 120,000 miles on it. I am making the trip with a buddy of mine, and just got the car checked out by a mechanic, and had the oil changed, tires replaced, fluids refilled, etc. We plan on driving in rotations (ie- I will drive for some time and hand the wheel over to him). My question is whether we will need to stop and rest the car every once in a while so it doesn't overheat? I've never driven it for long periods of time before and heard they can possibly overheat. How long would we be able to drive before we should take a break? Thanks!
