1996 Cadillac no overdrive when hot?

If there was a solenoid problem, your check system would throw a code. I suspect that you either have the wrong type of fluid in your trans, or that it has lost it's properties due to age. Have your trans pan dropped and have someone wash down your valve body with CHLORINATED brake cleaner. THis will dislodge any wandering clutch material that MAY be causing trouble. Refill with fresh, proper fluid that states on the label, "designed for use in GM cars." or "exceeds specifications for GM cars." etc. Have your throttle body and plate cleaned. This can control the operation of your trans. Good luck!!
 
1996 Cadillac Deville, 124000 miles. When you first go, when its cold, all gears work fine. After about 5 minutes when its warm, overdrive turns into neutral. If I stick it in 3rd its fine. Fluid level and color are fine, no check engine light. I know that the transmission is electronically shifted, I was wondering if there was a way to determine if its a solenoid problem or if its the transmission itself?
