An update...
I (finally!) went to see the bike in person. If all goes well, tomorrow (thursday) i'll be going with the owner to get the duplicate title transferred to my name, and I'll be picking the bike up with a uhaul trailer (btw, any tips on what not to do while towing a trailer? :lol4: ).
When I went to see the bike, it is very apparent that the bike has not been moved for quite some time. The fact that I found the keys the minute I removed the cover, also says something about the owner of the bike (they were right where I thought they would be... the compartment on the fairing). Either the guy's a living, breathing version of an absent minded mr. magoo, or the guy doesn't really care much for the bike anymore, or both. Either way, I don't think it's too bad a deal for $550 now, and another $150 once it's running (for a total of $700).
I did put the key in the ignition, and to my surprise, the dash lit up. I can assume there's no electrical leaks (power draws or whatever you wanna call them while the ignition is on off) since it's been sitting for about a year, and I pushed the start button briefly to see if it would turn the engine in neutral (which it did). Left the fuel petcock at off, and I won't try to do anything else with regards to turning it on, since the gas is very obviously old.
For a fact, it'll need a new chain. I'll probably have the spark plugs, air filter, oil, and brake fluid replaced to be on the safe side.
