ok, this is the second time i have had to put this problem on here. the first time all i got was people saying it is my battery. well i am sure it is not. my key stopped working, tumbler broke i think, it turns on all power and does everything it is supposed to but doesn't engage the starter. so i bought a push button starter and hooked it up. but after i did that it was acting like the battery was dead and wouldn't do anything. checked the battery and it said little over 10v, and i know with 10v the lights should still be somewhat bright in the car, they were not. so i put jumper cables on it and let it sit for about 30 min. still nothing. so then i reved up the car to 2500 rpm and tried to start, took a couple tries but it finally started. let it run for about 25 min, whole time volt gauge was saying 14v, and turned it off and then nothing. i then started it again and let it sit for another 20 min, then it started up fine several times. the next morning it started up as well. let sit for 14 hrs and it still started up fine. just tried it again and it was turning over good but didn't start, when i let go of the button it seemed like the started made a loud thunk, and then nothing. now i cant even jump it, just smells like gas.no matter how much i rev up the motor it wont crank over even at a decent speed. would the key cause a problem with the security system to shut off the spark or something. oh and my windows stopped working same time the key broke, all of them. what else should i consider. if it was the battery i personally don't think it would of worked like it did for almost 2 days. held charge and worked fine.
