I have a 1995 Honda Magna 750 (VF750C) that will not start.. If I jump the battery it will start immediately with no problem. The battery appears to hold a charge for a short time (a couple hours, I can ride, start, stop the engine as normal) and then it eventually dies again and this process will have to be repeated. When the battery is dead again, If I try to start the motorcycle on its own power, it might turn over once then will only make a clicking sound. When the key is in the on position, all lights light up, turn signals work, etc. The engine kill switch, spark plugs, and battery have all been replaced within the past 3 months.. I have tried trickle charging the battery and it will read 100%, but still will not start. The charging system has been tested and found to be working... This seems to be a battery problem to me but the battery is new and will read 100%? Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
Ok, so apparently the battery is reading good voltage, but is low on cold cranking amps.. Would this be another symptom of a failed regulator/rectifier? When this battery was installed new (about 2-3 months ago), it would start up every time without a problem.. eventually (past couple weeks) this problem arose.. The bike appears to be charging when it's running.. Would a new battery hold a charge and work for 2 months even with a failed regulator/rectifier? Or does this mean the battery has simply failed prematurely? Appreciate the help, thanks!
