1995 honda accord engine surges why?

Was washing the engine down and now the engine surge in park. It goes away when in drive.

Let it sit for a day or 2 to allow the water to evaporate first before throwing parts at it, you probably got water somewhere in the electrical system, soaked a sensor or a connection point.

That's why engine washing should be avoided or done carefully so to not get anything electrical wet. Covering electrical components with bags or other methods to protect them is also a good idea.

You need to let it dry out & check out the plug seals around the engine to make sure all is in place & all is there & chcek the dis cap & wires & make sure that ther is not any oil inside the dis cap if it is the seals is leaking & being a 1995 md i would ck all the vacume lines & pvc valve ,good luck......
