1995 dodge avenger engine issues?

Hi, I have a 95 avenger with the 2.0 liter 4cyl. It is having some engine problems. It has been working fine since I bought it in 2006, but now all of a sudden in the cold Michigan winter it has decided to idle weird when it gets hot. It starts fine and idles fine cold, but when it warms up, it wants to quit when I come to a stop. When I tap the throttle in neutral or park it wants to rev to about 3000 rpm and stays there for a second or two and then it goes back to barely idling (almost quitting) and then it goes back to idling fine. I don't know if it is a sensor or something gone bad. The exhaust almost smells kinda like it is running rich, if that helps. Also, I have a cold air intake with a fancy filter and when it starts cold it usually makes a sucking noise and it usually goes away when it warms up, but now the sucking noise is still there when it is warm. I would greatly appreciate if someone would help me if they have any idea what might be wrong. Thanks
