My friend put her 1994 Virago into the shop to have the starter repaired. This was an authorized Yamaha repair shop. When she went to pick it up, they claimed that they put in a NEW kind of system, and the battery would have to be hot all the time... Anyway, the starter just spins for like 10 seconds, then it FINALLY engages... sometimes it doesnt engage. They claim this so called new system is to keep the gears from getting damaged. Can anyone verify that this is how the new Viragos start? With a LOT of spinning and then finally turning over the engine? PS: this is not the older virago with all the starting problems, its a 1994. Thanks for your help.
