I would like to know what is done when they rebuild an engine for a 1994 toyota Tercel. i changed my head and valves and changed the timing belt. Blue smoke is coming out the exhaust of my car and burning the motor oil quick. should i replace the pistons since i already put money in it or replace the motor?

A typical engine rebuild involves replacing all bearings, gaskets, piston rings, timing belt or chains, and the oil pump. While the engine is torn apart the tech will also measure the engine bock for warpage of the head and the engine deck. The crank, cams(s), pistons, cylinders, and valve train will be measured for wear to determine if its salvagable. If your head, valve seals and guides, and head gasket are good the the oil burning is likly due to piston rings being worn out or the cylinders are worn out.
