I have a 1995 toyota 4-runner with a v6 and 4x4. The transmission (auto) sometimes will not shift into top gear. wants to hover @ around 4k RPM's doing 50 mph. other times it will shift fine. I was told by the guys that rebuilt the transmission that "The computer will not allow the transmission to shift into high gear till the engine has warmed up to 165 degrees F." This seems VERY odd to me, like it will cause an undue amount of wear to the mortor and transmission. are they telling me the truth or trying to avoid honoring the warranty they gave me?
