I have a 1994 Katana 600. I have done carb work(larger jets, volocity stacks). I have a Vance and Hines ssr2 exhaust system. I recently adjusted my idle mixture so the bike would idle better, but after time the bike began to run horrible(only has 1/4 of its power and no get up and go) I am wondering since my plugs are horribly carboned up that i may have my idle too rich. Can carboned up plugs really make it run terrible? I have had the bike dyno tested and my main jet is just right. but the dyno only goes down to 2000 rpm. any help would be appreciated

yes your plugs could be fouled. its a place to start. make sure it runs on all four cylnders. maybe your carbs got junk in them from bad gas? also the mixture screws are not idle . they are fuel mixture and could cause prblems. that bike has a idle adjustment on it. that idle adjustment has nothing to do with rich or lean it simply opens the slides alittle more and aloows idle to raise, just like holding your throttle open a little. the mixture screw can and will cause problems. i would set them back to where they were and adjust idle with idle adjustment.replace your plugs.

Ussually these type of bikes pack a lot of power from the factory. Wonder if you could recarb to factory specs. Yes, runing rich will definatle carb up the plugs.
