I parked my '94 Lincoln Town Car for about the past three months without starting it during that time. (Bad move) It has a battery only about 7 months old. When I tried to start it, I had to jump it with a B&D portable power supply battery charger that I keep in my other car in case I need to jump it. The car started, but every 15 to 20 seconds or so, the lights and dash would blink anywhere from 3 to 7 times as it the motor were going to die. I gave it some gas to keep it running. But it would do this every few seconds, the blinking, then run fine for 15 seconds or so. IT isn't dimming, but blinking on and off. It is in fact looking the power during those blinks. After about two minutes I took my foot off the accelerator so it could idle down. As expected, the car died when it blinked. Is the alternator bad or what could it be to cause the intermittent blinking? Thanks!
The battery is only 7 months old. Why would it "blink" intermittently like that?
In January, the battery died, but I could jump it off and drive it to get a new battery. This time, with the blinking/electrical interruption, the motor will die.
