1994 Ford Ranger, 4.0 5 speed. When I bought it, it was sitting for a little while, and when I went to go start it, it would fire up, rev to 3000 rpm, then die. after a few tries, it ran normal. I started it several times after and it was fine. I just did some engine work, (head gasket set) and now it has the same problem again. It runs smooth above 3000 rpm, but as soon as I let off the gas, it stalls. If I try and hold it at 3000 rpm, the rpm will fluctuate quite a bit. I can't see any vacuum leaks. It will start up every time, just not stay running. any ideas?
