1994 Ford Mustang engine overheating?

Ok, so i have a 94 mustang and for some reason the engine will get hot within minutes of driving and the gage will move into the red. I thought it was my headgasket, and turns out it was blown, but i fixed the gasket and replaced the thermostat and my car is still getting hot! Also, around a day a month or so, my car will just keep shutting off while i'm driving, but after that day it won't... does this have anything to do with what is causing my car to get hot? I've taken it in to several auto shops to have it looked at but none of them seem to know what the problem is. Any Ideas would be much appreciated. Any prices too.

It sounds like u have an air pocket in the coolant system somewhere. It might have happened when the put the the new head gasket in. The thing to do is have the whole system flushed. That air pocket can sometimes cause u to blow the head gasket again. And the car is shutting because it is a safety system so you don't hurt the motor from getting to hot.

Just some ideas.
1. Check the water pump.
2. Check the fan.
a. If belt driven, is the belt ok?
b. If electric, is it running? No?, check fuses.
c. If it has a clutch, make sure it's ok
3. Check the coolant level in the radiator.
4. Double check the theromstat. Even new ones go bad on occasions.
