1994 ford escort stalls when being driven,what might the problem be?

I have a ford excort 4cyl.1.9 engine. It will run great in the parking lot BUT once out in the streets it blogs down, stalls out and barely putts down the stree. The problem seems to get worst as the engine warms up.I've replaced the fuel filter and air filter plus put an additive in the gas.What could be causing this problem>
