1994 Cadillac Deville Aceleration?

I recently received this 1994 Cadillac Deville and from the start it is different. Any other car that I have had, when parked, and then shift to reverse, the car will move by itself without me pushing on the gas. On this Deville that I just got, when I am parked and then shift to reverse, nothing happens, the car does not move, it feels like someone has a foot on the break.
Is this normal?
After I press on the gas, the car runs normally.
