I'm looking to turn my Grand Cherokee into a performance, racing beast and I'm starting with the engine. I have a stock 4.0 I6. What are some good things to do to the engine to increase the stability and performance? Tuning, replacing parts, anything you could suggest on where to start.

To gain a huge increase in power go with A full exhaust overhaul. Start with full length header and put 2.5"-3 inch pipes on. High flow cat and high flow mufflers(if you need it to be legal, otherwise straight pipes) worth somewhere around 15-20% more power

K&N air intake kit. -10% more power right off the bat. super easy mod and relatively cheap

COMP Cams Xtreme Energy 4x4 Cam and Lifter Kit.-MASSIVE increase in power and torque! requires pretty good mechanical knowledge but well worth it! come with everything you need.

VENOM 400 Performance Control Module. -This engine CPU is worth about 25% more power. has an on and off switch for MPG and economy when not racing.

Taylor ThunderVolt 8.2 Spark Plug Wires and e3 diamond fire plugs. -less resistant wires will give you even more power

Flex-a-lite Direct Fit Electric Fan-when yor engine doesn't have to work to turn a fan it gives you more usable power and torque.
