1993 Ford Explorer transmission problems and rattling?

I have a 1993 ford explorer xlt...when I shift into any gear it takes long to shift in...and then after I start I hear rattling for in the engine for about 15 seconds then I don't hear it until I start it again.....what's the problem...how much would it cost 2 get this repaired?
 
this may sound strange..but take it to an oil change place..if it is simple as just low fluid they can fix it cheap and can't and won't try to sell you a transmission rebuild..if it isn't a simple fix you will need a transmission rebuild 1800-2200$ that vintage explorer bad for transmission problems.had to have mine done twice good luck
