1993 ford exploder 4.0 litre?

wont crank. Good battery, all cables connected,tried starter(put in 1 I know is good) Just clicks. tried starter out of vehicle, works fine. Is the crank seized? Is there a fusible link somewhere I'm missing????
Just tried crank all ok. jumped the solenoid, starter works. Installed starter... back to square 1
time to sit and have a beer before i pull out my hair
 
put a socket on the crank shaft and see if it turns if it does all fords have a starter solenoid its usually on the inner fender you can try jumping it with two screw drivers or you can just buy a new one. just because it clicks doesn't mean its good.
