I own a 93 Dodge Dakota with about 165,000 miles on the V6 engine/ automatic transmission. The other day I noticed a squeaking dry sound coming from the rear of my truck. My truck is a regular cab so there isn't really much in the rear of the truck except the driveshaft and rear axel. I only hear the sound when the truck is moving slow and when I start to pickup speed the sound stops. It sounds like the sound is coming from where the rear driveshaft connects into the end of the transmission, but it's hard to tell. rubbing type sound.
What should I check for when inspecting the rear driveshaft and does anyone have any ideas what would cause a dry squeaking sound from the rear of a regular cab Dakota?
Thanks
