1993 Dodge Caravan brake issues?

I have a 1993 Dodge Caravan(yeah I know old ass hell)for business purposes.A few weeks ago I went to stop at a stop sign and it was hard pressing the brake down to stop.I had to press down very hard and it just like coasted to a stop.A friend who works on cars said it sounds like my master cylinder so this is my question...could it be?And if so what would be a solution to fix this?He also mentioned that they could be drained or something like that.A lil help please!!!!!!!!Thank you.
 
Glad the friend isn't a "mekanik" he only works on cars. Go get your brake booster checked or do it yourself.
