Hi, I drive a 1993 Chevy Beretta. It has been overheating for about 7 months now. When it first happened I was driving out of a gas station when the thermostat needle rose extremely high. Naturally I pulled over and let it cool off and started it up again. Once more the needle rose extremely high, I checked the coolant level and to my astonishment the needle plummeted and bobbed around back and forth for a about a 5 minutes as I drove it till the needle would stabilize at a little above 1/4'ths temp. As anyone would I replaced the thermostat 3 times and that didn't fix it. 5 Months later a large leak from my heater core started up. I ran a pressure test and found that It was leaking extremely fats. Hoping that this was the fix to my problem I quickly replaced the heater core. As soon as it got out on the road the gauge quickly rose and bobbed around till it stabilized just like the good ol' days. Now an even stranger thing is happening. When I first start up the car and run it, I can here gurgling in this lines. and presently the car runs 1/3 hot. I suspect that their might be air in the lines some how. If this sounds like the likely case how in the word do I burp the lines in a car like this, i know there are bleeder valves somewhere but can't find them? also I am losing coolant at a slow rate. could the bad heater core just be a symptom and ultimate effect of something else going wrong?
