1993 Buick Roadmaster wagon?

need help with diagnosis. Car starts (most of the time on first try) but then seems to sputter out or idles high then low and back and forth and usually then sputters out...unless of course we gas it for all it's worth. Sometimes that doesn't even help!!! Any ideas on what could cause this problem? We were thinking the Map? Mav sensor? but can't figure out where it would be located on the vehicle either? Please advise. Thank you!!!
 
Is the check engine light on? Pull the codes. Look for a vacuum leak.

Under hood, center, upper engine area, passenger side center of intake manifold, above valve cover, mounted on bracket
