I have a 1992 Ford Ranger 4cyl 5 speed. I press in the clutch and the vehicle starts but will not shift into gear. If I start in gear it and let out on the clutch it starts to move but dies. This happened all of a sudden. No issues up until then. What is my problem? Help please!

Possibly a problem with the slave cylinder if the truck has a hydraulic clutch (I think it does). Otherwise, broken spring on the pressure plate. If its the slave cylinder, just replace it and bled the system. If its the pressure plate, you need to change the whole clutch.

Sounds to me like your throw out bearing has shattered.
This is a metal or ceramic ring that is pushed by the clutch pedal to thrust the clutch away form the flywheel so the gears can slow down enough to mesh when shifting.
If it starts in gear then stalls the clutch is not disengaged fully and the whole shebang jams when the pedal comes out.
It will not shift into gear because the cogs are spinning too fast and the syncro-mesh transmission will not allow the shift.
If it were allowed like on an older tranny then you would be busting teeth off the flywheel; an expensive no-no.
