A 1992 Ducati 750SS is for sale in my area. I'm about buying it. I'm posting here in hopes you can provide some expert commentary on this model. It has 9,000 miles, is in fine condition, with a few aftermarket mods like seat, windshield, and mufflers. The price is in the $3,500 to $4,000 range.
What are the pros and cons of this bike? What about the maintenance, especially the valve adjustment interval. How hard is it to learn to adjust the valves yourself, assuming you have decent skills. What other maintenance issues are there? Do you like these bikes?
It would not be my primary ride. I have a Harley Sportster for commuting and a Kawasaki Concours for touring. So I see the 750 SS as fitting nicely in the middle of my retro lineup. Basically, I am thinking about buying it as a treat for myself, like a big cherry chocolate bon-bon.
Thanks for any advice!
