1991 toyota mr2 E-BRAKE / CRUISE CONTROL?

ok i bought this car about 2 months ago and when i got it i was out for a drive and using cruise control and then the brake light came on and shut off the cruise control now over the last month or so the brake light remains on unless im hard on the gas but as soon as i let off the darn brake comes on my cruise will not work when its on im betting it has something to do with the e-brake maybe out of adjustment or something else i dont know if you know anytthing about this or had this happen to you please help me i also have no idea where the e-brake adjuster is located on this car someone please help
