1991 jeep Cherokee knocking?

the engine is making a knocking noise i was wanting to know if anyone knew wat could be the cause of this?
 
Could be a few things..

Could be bad gas..
Remedy; Put some dry gas in the tank..

Could be "pre-ignition",, which is unburned gas..
Remedy; put some octane boost in the tank..

Could be low on oil..
Remedy; obvious..

Could be running hot..

Could be a dirty or stuck or burnt valve(s)..

Could be allot of things..
 
I had a 1996 Grand Jeep Chrokee and mine did the same thing. It wasnt as bad as I gained speed. I had two opinions. Catalytic coverter. And Engine needed replacement.
