I have a 1991 Honda Accord with an S light that stays on. The car starts out fine when you first start to drive it. When it gets to around 60 MPH, the car down shifts and the RPM's shoot way up. You can still drive the car but only in the lower gears. This is an auto transmission. The mechanic put 2 solenoids in it but the problem continues. Now he says that the third gear is gone and it needs a transmission rebuild. Any other suggestions? This is a great used car with only 100,000 miles on it.
