1991 Honda accord ex coupe trouble?

when i turn my car it starts fine but after a while the "S" light turns on i know this is the "SPORTS" light just because of the button on the side of the gear shifter but when this happens my car wont ever change out of 2nd gear and i never pushed pushed the button. i think it has to be something electrical and not the tranny

P.S my car is an automatic.
 
That is a very common problem which can most often be fixed by just unplugging and cleaning the TCU (transmission computer) connectors. It is located under a floor plate beneath the carpet on the passenger side and wet carpet moisture can easily get into that mounting compartment and corrode the connections.
