1991 ford thunderbird wont start?

ok my car just stopd workn. the other day i was driven home from work and my car started overheating and smoking ALOT of white smoke out the tail pipe when i hit the gas i made it home ok but it was smoking under the hood. when i pop ed the hood i seen there was a very small hole in the top of the radiator and the smoke was coming out of that. so i got some sealant and sealed the hole then after it cooled off i started it up and it started fine and was not overheating i was filling the radiator with water then i noticed a pretty steady drip of water coming out of the exhaust so i went to take it around the block to see if it would over heat again. it didn't over heat but it would not accelerate very well. when i got home and pulled in my driveway the car just died. i thought the battery was dead but it would not start even when tryn to jump it. all the power works just when i turn the key i hear a click i changed the solenoid and still am getting the same thing. just a click. i was looking online and it said there is a recall with the 1991 electrical ignition system it says it causes over heating and smoke could this be the problem?? thanks for your time
