1991 Ford Ranger (4cyl - 5 speed trans) Needs new engine?

It could be an oil pump gone bad or a fuel pump. It sounds like the timing is out so it may have broke the time belt or something of that nature. Do a compression test on the cylinders and go from there. May need a new pump or timing parts like belt, points if it has them, rotor could be cracked, so hard to know over not seeing it.
 
We have a 1991 Ford Ranger and I was driving to work one day and the engine just lost power? we changed the oil and nothing helps..it still runs but kinda sputters and misses and doesnt have hardly any power? can someone please tell me what might be causing this? and what would we need to do to fix it?
