1991 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible Backfire?

Ok, I will drive a Ford, accept a Chevy, and love a Toyota. But a Chrysler???
Anyway, I recently bought a the Lebaron with my brother, (But a Chrysler????) and it was feverishly riding on the outskirts of a junkyard. It ran terrible, backfiring, misfiring, and all sorts of other bad firing. We replaced the plugs, distributor, and plug wires (and the inner outer rod ends-not that this matters to the engine). Runs helluva lot better. Went from about 15 mpg's to 26.8mpg! BUT, at around 3500 rpm's it stutters, it sputters, and it backfires like a mutha. I ran about thirty seven gallons (a mere over exaggeration of course) of injector cleaner through her and it helped a tid bit. It also smokes a bit-rings/seals? I ran smoke/leak stop in the oil, and it got rid of the leaks completely. It still smokes a little though. (She is a non-turbo V-6)
So, if you could help me help her, it would be appreciated! It seems she'll last a while, with a Florida body and a mere 95,000 miles.
Thanks! -Justin, the Justin that now lives in Wisconsin

Change the pcv and egr valves and clean the fuel delivery system you may be surprised at what it will do.
