1990 toyota celica gt4 transmission problems!!?

hey i have a 1990 toyota celica gt4 awd, rhd, im having problems with my transmission when down shifting from 5th gear it grinds going into 4th gear. and it is also very loose (lots of side to side movment) when it is in gear driving down the road. does anyone know what my problem is????
