1990 suzuki katana 750 Second gear gone?!?! help please.?

So theres a 1990 suzuki katana 750 forsale in my area and it looked nice and clean body mod exhaust new paint and hes asking 1000$ so i called the guy and he said its all good but second gear is gone. So i was wondering what does that mean and how much would it cost to fix? thanks.

About $1500 dollars to have somebody that know what they are doing tear the engine apart, replace the gears, and put it back together correctly.

Actually its probably more like $2000 to fix it.

Look for another bike there are plenty out there and the 90 Katana wasn't one of the better ones!
Plastic bodied carbs and all!
Quite often more than just the 2nd gear on the mainshft will need replacing. It's mate on the countershaft and a fork too will need to be changed. Possibly other stuff too. This job may be 2 G's to get done properly. 2nd gear is ALWAYS the most common to go for a couple reasons but assume she's been beat hard and put away wet!
Sure you may find someone willing to say they can do it for cheep but it may well have other undiagnosed trans problems after all is said and done.
Look elsewhere esp for a bike that has not been so abused.
Ride On!
