I noticed that my 1990 Honda accords speedometer bounces around sometimes, or stops working completely. Sometimes it works perfectly fine. When it does not work the "S" light starts to blink. I did some research and found that it has to do with the Transmission trouble codes. Apparently you have to jumper a connector so that you get the computer to blink the codes to you, however there is no such connector in the car. I looked really hard for it but to no avail. I did, however, find that when i put the key in the "ON" position there are two LED's that light up on the computers under the kickpanel on the passenger side of the vehicle. There is one on the right and one left. I know one is for the transmission and the other is just for the car in general. My question is which one is the transmission computer and the ECM. I got the following codes from these blinking lights:
for the left computer:1, 17, 43
and for the right: 4
I don't know what these codes mean. I think 17 is VSS which would make sense. Anyway ten points to who can tell me what these codes mean. (A good source would help too) thank you
Well on top of a non working speedometer i also get poor fuel economy probably one of these sensors can help me out. I'm not looking for a quick fix, I want to fix this the right way in the most inexpensive way possible.
