Esp. While A/C Is On. Details Inside.? To first start off, this car is my mom's. I'm currently 18 and own a '72 Chevelle. I enjoy muscle cars but I took my mom's car out to pick up a part for mine and while it was out, I noticed this problem. About a month ago, I was riding in it with her driving and it drove perfectly fine. She said this problem began about a week ago to this day. Now, to the problem: I take it out and being in Phoenix, Arizona where it is already 100 degrees just about, I have the A/C on. Idles a lil' rough at a street light but then when the A/C is off, it idles fine. Lil' shakey but not main problem. Then, when the light turns green and accelerates, the car shakes like it can't go anymore. It will get up to speed but not like a normal car. Rides rough. Just cruising, it works decently but not when the pedal is pressed fully. I would wanna figure out the problem ASAP. My dad said maybe it's only running on 3 cylinders. But any advice you guys could give would be great!

Want more details? Ask away! Thx

Do you have a spray water bottle that mists? if so, spray the spark plug wires with a mist while the engine is running. If the stumble get worse or the engine dies, you have bad plug wires. How long since plugs were changed? Hear any vacuum leaks? Are brakes spongy? possible vacuum booster with leaking diaphragm. Dad might be on the right track, bad wires and you loose a cylinder.

dad's probably right. take it to a shop and give it a tuneup, replace the o2 sensor, and other smog valves and sensors. A scan can help you figure this out. That is the cheap route.

on the worse end, could be a crankshaft bearing going out, burned valves, cam problems. BIG$$$$$

probably best advice would be to give it a tuneup, then go straight to a carlot and trade it in on a new or better car or truck.
