1990 ford ranger wont crank?

the plugs are sparking, fuel pump comes on, it has gas in it. when you turn the key you can hear the starter turning over like normal but it just wont crank on up. ive tried patting the gas while cranking it and that doesn't work. Ether wont crank it and pouring gas in it wont crank it. its been getting hard to crank but i can normally get it to crank after a lot of trying but today it just wont crank. pelase help
 
if it won't turn over or turns to slow, clean the cables and charge the battery. If it turns over ok (cranks) but won't start, try changing the plugs..
