1990 ford mustang 5.0?

Umm, I was planning on buying a GTO at first but considering the goat is 16k, I'd rather buy the 90s Mustang and put a supercharger in it and get it to the GTO's speed, and less weight...But I have a question...since it is a 90s Mustang...because its 20 years old, does it lose power? Or should it still have the 225 hp and 300 lb ft of torque? Basically I'm saying is the engine wore out? And it has 85k miles on it.
