Hi, i have a 1989 mazda mx6 gt turbo. I tried to hook a battery up to it the other day, the previous owner put new battery cables in it with no indication on which is pos and ground, so i guess i hooked it up backwards, it popped and now the car has no power even trying to jumpstart it. I checked all fuses and the fuse panel 30a circuit breaker and they are fine. Thought about the starter relay but if it was that i would have power to the interior, i have nothing at all. Any ideas on what it could be? the only other thing i could think is that i fried the ecu. Thanks

even with a fried ecu you should still get power to the rest of the car,... i would say to follow the main power cable loom from the battery to the back of the fuse box and look for a fried wirer.. this would explain why your fuses are all ok..
also, even if there aren't any ' + ' or ' - ' on the battery it should still have a color tab of red and black on it, if so red is positive..

clean your battery cables first always and most likey didnt hurt it but theres always a chance you might have but still dirty battery cables most likely and way you know which wire is by looking at cables or the sign on battery + - always mark as well plus hot cable post most of time some what bigger in size plus it runs to starter try cleaning cables or replacing battery with another one maybe even from car your jumping with might fit

most batteries has a X for positive and a - for negative. if you hooked them backwards then it could feed back into the computer and did something to it. after you get a new computer you better get another battery too.
