1989 Ford Taurus Idle Adjustment?

I have a 1989 Ford Taurus GL with a 3.0L Vulcan V6 with a 4 Speed AUTO with OD. Is it possible to adjust the idle speed? It clunks when I put it into gear when its warm. It happened today, and it only does it on an incline and it helps sometimes when I push the brake as hard as i can. The emergency brake is fine, because when i push it down, the car doesnt move, even on an incline, all though it does need to be adjusted. Help.

a bad throttle position sensor will cause one to idle kind of high so you might want to get that checked out,the computer controls the idle speed on it so it shouldn't need adjusted, the clunking sound your hearing may be a bad axle in it,that's a common thing on those cars to go bad, good luck.
